If you asked me a few of years ago how to activate your third eye I would have questioned your sanity. But recently I dug into this subject because of my interest in mysticism, and I’ve found there’s actually a biological basis for the third eye. It exists and you can use it to further your spiritual path.

What is the Third Eye?

It’s actually an organ in your brain. Pineal Gland can even detect light coming through your “normal” eyes and regulate your sleep cycle by releasing Melatonin into your system. In many traditions it’s been called “The Seat of The Soul” and you can find many references to it across centuries.

 

The Eye is activated by DMT, The Spirit Molecule, long meditation, Kundalini experience, and many other methods. It provides access to the world of the unknown.

The ancient Assyrians knew about it and depicted the Pineal as a mysterious cone in their reliefs. The Egyptians showed it through the Eye of Horus. Freemasons included it their rich symbolism. During my meditative practices, I often feel a slight pressure in my skull. I’m not sure if it’s because of the synchronization of the hemispheres or is there any third-eye business going on there. But I really CAN feel it. I’ve found that you can trigger it through your behavior and good habits of the mind and body.

 

So how do you activate your third eye? Here are 15 top ideas:

 

1. Meditate for 20-30 minutes a day

One function of the third eye is to awake you from the dream reality you mostly occupy right now. Meditation is a great way to do it. It helps you to look at the world more clearly and be aware of your surroundings and mental state.

 

Develop a habit of daily meditation (even if for 20-30 minutes). You can easily learn the basics with books like The Relaxed Mind by Dza Kilung Rinpoche.

 

2. Consume Turmeric in every form

Turmeric is a powerful spice. It reduces the inflammation in your body, but it also helps to absorb nutrients and cleanse your blood. Some Indian gurus put the turmeric paste on their foreheads claiming it helps to clear the brain from neurotoxins and awakens the third-eye.  Turmeric is still a great thing to try, whether in the form of a supplement or a tea.

 

 

3. Drink filtered water

One thing is for sure: most tap water around the world contains lots of fluorides which is considered a toxin. There’s even a conspiracy about governments’ involvement in “calcifying” our pineal glands.

 

Anyway, try to drink the best and clearest water possible. You can do it by buying brands that don’t contain fluoride or install a water filter in the kitchen.

 

4. Haritaki – the Herb of The Gurus

Haritaki has been used in India for millennia where it is known as the “King of Herbs”. Gurus like Paramahamsa Nithyananda recommend it as a supplement helping to open the third eye, as well as improving eye-sight, increasing energy, and ensuring ease of digestion.

5. Eat mostly fruits and vegetables

Awakening the pineal gland is about purifying your mind and body so that you can see dimensions of reality unavailable to an untrained observer. During my 10-day meditation retreat I haven’t eaten any meat and I’ve noticed that my mind was much clearer. You can have the same experience.

6. Use a non-fluoride toothpaste

The majority of cheaper toothpastes contain fluoride which is considered a toxin. When brushing your teeth, you swallow small amounts of toothpaste which can cause health problems in the long term.

 

Fortunately now on the market, we have non-fluoride toothpaste which is totally safe to use and especially recommended for children. Don’t let any nasty toothpaste to mess with your third-eye!

 

7. Try to avoid hot steamy showers (or use a shower filter)

If you take a really hot shower, the pores in your body open and all the tap-water toxins are slowly absorbed by your skin. Again, this can “calcify” your pineal gland. You can fix it by installing a pro shower filter in your bathroom or just stop taking hot steamy showers.

 

As an alternative, cold showers are fantastic for your health and save you some time so give them a try.

11. Avoid too much electric light and radiation

Following your natural circadian rhythm is necessary to awaken the third eye. That means you should mostly wake up at sunrise and go to sleep a few hours after the sunset. Your body then knows how to maintain a high level of energetic stability. If, however, you’re glued to your laptop, the TV screen or your mobile device, you can disrupt this natural flow of energy (especially if you do it right before going to sleep).
